Meet
Kevin

As a husband, father, and retired law enforcement officer, I've always had an unyielding passion to keep my family—and yours—and our community safe.

Growing up in Harlem, I was raised by my mother and grandmother—the two most resilient people I've ever known. In my freshman year at St. John's University, my grandmother passed away. During the toughest time of my life, I remembered two things my grandmother told me nearly every day: get a good education and do good things.

When I was the first in my family to graduate college, my mother told me, "Kevin, this is the proudest moment of my life." And that moment has stuck with me for my entire life.

1990 was the year I began my career in law enforcement. In my junior year of high school, I had met a New York State Trooper who told me one day I would be doing what he was. And boy, was he right. After I graduated from college, I became a New York State Peace Officer, but it still didn't feel quite right. Something was missing.

I decided it was time to go back home.

In 2003, I moved back home to Savannah and began coaching youth basketball and teaching as a substitute—two extremely rewarding experiences. I also was proud to stand alongside some of our community's greatest volunteer organizations during this time because standing up for others has always been important to me.

I never imagined running for office in my life, but over time I realized our community desperately needs a leader who will stand up for them. I remembered my grandmother's words: do good things.

So, I decided to run for Sheriff.

Over the course of my campaign, I've spoken to thousands of people just like you who are ready for change. On your front porches and in your living rooms, I've heard your expectations for our community. And I knew this campaign would only be possible by listening, learning, and adapting to our community's needs. Running for Sheriff was never a decision I knew I could make myself—as they say, it takes a village, and I believe in our village.

As a parent, I feel the deep urgency each day to make our community safer the best way I know how—by fighting crime and uplifting our community. I hope you'll join us in this campaign to seek a better future for ourselves, our families, and our community.
